Limassol, Cyprus

As it turns out, I have only taken pictures on the phone today and will post later. Two reasons, the first being the most critical – cultural places prohibit the taking of photos. Not just the “no flash” but completely no photos.

Ok, I can live with that, their choices.
End result is that we stopped at the Castle/fortress right after getting off the shuttle. Mostly the bottom floor is a series of tomb stones from the middle ages interspersed with prison cells. Nothing warm or fuzzy about the place at all.

Limassol is the Greece part of Cyprus which means that the street signs are a bit more difficult to decipher. We then took a hike out to the Textile/Ethnic Museum. Or at least that is what we attempted to do. Missed it on the first pass and Dani found it on the second by doing a “go around the block to be sure” As it turns out, it is neither signed nor currently open which may explain the challenge.

Other than that we have wandered up and down streets, looked in shops and obviously found an internet location. Euros work just fine. Just like Turkey, there are merchants on every corner more than happy to sell you things that you don’t really want. Heading back to the ship after one more run through my email boxes.

Haifa tomorrow.

There is something 3rd worldish about that no-photos thing. Obviously there is some religious fundy involved. Poor Greece. It has a long way to go.

Don’t believe that the Cypriots value ‘cultural’ places! Yiani and Ilya took plenty of photos.
More likely the problem was that the city wanted to sell you some pictures instead ha ha
