This is Barcelona
It was already 30* when I disembarked the ship. Docked at Pier B, it saves maybe 200m on the hike to Columbus where he stands facing the harbor. Guarding it against who knows what or welcoming perhaps.
I had decided against any rush or anything formal so I wandering museum shops at Modern Art, Picasso and Maritime museums. The small streets and alleys of the old section are fascinating and can be wandered for hours. Thanks to “Around Me” and telecoms vacation special I can afford to use my phone if I get totally lost.
Oh, and if the idea of siesta is unfamiliar except in book and song, the concept is alive and well for the smaller Barcelona shops. At 1400 the area shook with the slamming down of grills as the area practically evacuated at high speed leaving only confused tourists on the streets.
I started the day on Las Ramblas and will end there as well.
