Sounds fantastic - Lanzarote is on my "to do" list. It is a great favourite with geologists. I have a piece of rock from Lanzarote in my conservatory - it is a beautiful sparkling piece of pale-green olivine and is part of the Earth's mantle, thrown up from more than 60km below the surface by the force of a volcanic eruption.

I seem to remember from being in India that there is no such thing as a friendly camel. At best you will get one that is haughty and aloof, and regards carrying passengers (or any other load) with disdain but most tend towards bad temper and uncooperativeness. But they are fantastic animals and superbly "designed" for the environment in which they operate. I would guess that they are not native to Lanzarote?

Surely there's a hardware store that carries the automatic garage door openers (just the little hand-held or visor-mounted thingie). Most of them are programmable to perfectly match whatever garage door you have installed. We don't own or need a garage, but I've assisted many friends and neighbors calibrate the opener replacements/additions. Maybe such things are different in Deutschland.

Yes...I've noticed the 'atmosphere' lighting in many eateries getting a bit low. I've also started to notice some older folks carrying the small LED flashlights to read menus. I think I may do that as well. The problem is often not just insufficient photons bouncing off the print, but to a larger extent, the idea of 'lets fancy the menu up a bit' which often consists of printing the menu (black print) onto an imaged background. When you print BLACK onto a slight lighter shade of color, the relative contrast DECREASES, bottom line, you can't see. It drives me nutty. Glasses don't necessarily help either.

I'd be afraid of falling. Especially without a rail. A friend of mine
at church fell on a stairway without a rail, suffered pretty severe
TBI, ended up on disability. We actually installed a railing in our
house stairwell to the basement for this reason. Carry laundry up and
down a dim staircase with no rail? No thank you. LOL! I do feel much
safer with even a light railing.

And yeah, I can't knit dark stitches on dark needles especially in poor

I try to make sure I only have one WIP going at one time in each of a very few categories. For instance, socks are in the pedestrian portable category, but also the fine gauge category, so anything else I start now needs to be coarser gauge and probably a home, quicky, or car project. Crochet doesn't count against knitting WIPS but maybe it should. Maybe that way I could get more of the motifs attached to the bodice-in-progress and finally free up the dress form. I do use the motifs for car fiddling but they're too absorbing for conversational work. Hmm, maybe if I schlep the dress form down the the rec room I'll work on it during TV evenings.

I can't see you with much around in these colors either. If I hadn't started out with three balls of the stuff, I would not have assumed that I still had some left.

Of course, I could use this as an excuse to drive to Schoppel.... (Zauberball people)

Steal it from the next project. It'll never know. Make a hat out of the rest of that ball instead of something bigger, it'll go with the shawl. Wishing I could help out with matching yarn, though.
